José Manuel Almuzara Pérez
José Manuel Almuzara Pérez was born in Nador, Morocco, in 1952, along the Mediterranean, during the Spanish protectorate era. He completed his high school education at INEM Milá i Fontanals and pursued his architectural studies at the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Barcelona. He has been a practicing architect since March 1977, working independently and for a decade also as a professor.
Professional Experience
- 1992 – Present: President, Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí. Leads efforts for the beatification of the architect Antoni Gaudí, focusing on the dissemination of his spiritual and artistic dimensions through conferences, exhibitions, and publications. Although since December 2023, the leading party of the cause is the Canonical Association Antoni Gaudí, under the Archbishopric of Barcelona. Also involved in collecting testimonies of favors received through Gaudí’s intercession.
- 2007 – 2013: Secretary, Friends of Gaudí Association. Served during the centenary of Gaudí’s birth.
- 2013 – 2015: Vice-President, Friends of Gaudí Association.
- Current: Board Member, Gaudí Center Madrid; Collaborator, The Gaudí Research Institute, Colonia Güell; since 2016, Ambassador of the Gaudí Project for Rancagua, Chile.
Academic and Cultural Contributions
- Curated and contributed to book editions and catalogues; organized exhibitions in prestigious venues including the European Parliament in Brussels, Milan, Rome, Vedano Olona (Italy), Rio de Janeiro, Lima and Piura (Peru), Bogotá, Santiago de Chile, Pamplona, San Fernando, Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), Barcelona, and Madrid.
- Delivered lectures at Professional Colleges, Athenaeums, Universities, Schools, Parishes, Cultural Centers, Cloistered Monasteries, Geriatric Residences, Penitentiary Centers, across Spain, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, USA (Puerto Rico and Nashville), Japan, and China.
- Participated as a member of the Scientific Committee in the World Congresses on Gaudí held in Barcelona and Astorga (León province) in 2014, 2016, and 2018.
