Slovenian Public Television Dedicates a Programme to Gaudí with Almuzara

The Slovenian public broadcaster RTV Slovenija has devoted an entire programme to the figure of Antoni Gaudí, guided by José Manuel Almuzara, who presented the architect as a genius inseparable from his faith. The episode, titled «A. Gaudí, the Architect of the Soul», crowns the expert's visit to Ljubljana in the year marking the centenary of the Catalan master.
José Manuel Almuzara, architect and promoter of the cause for the beatification of Antoni Gaudí, travelled to Slovenia in May 2026 at the initiative of the scholar Marina Barbara Žlender and with the collaboration of the Spanish Embassy in the country. At the National Gallery of Ljubljana he delivered a lecture devoted to the life, work and spiritual legacy of the Catalan architect. Before the Slovenian public he presented Gaudí not only as a genius of architecture, but also as a man of profound faith.
The echo of that visit reached the Slovenian public broadcaster RTV Slovenija, which devoted to Almuzara and his testimony about Gaudí an edition of its programme «Obzorja duha» (Horizons of the Spirit). The episode, titled «A. Gaudí, the Architect of the Soul», was broadcast on 7 June 2026. In it, Almuzara brought viewers closer to the believer's gaze that sustains the master's entire body of work. The broadcast thus carried Gaudí's name and faith into homes across an entire country.
“It is impossible to understand Gaudí without his faith”
For Almuzara, one cannot truly approach Gaudí's work without heeding the convictions that guided its author. The expert stressed that faith was not a secondary element in the architect's career, but the foundation of all his creation. So he conveyed it before the Slovenian public and cameras, with a conviction that ran through his entire address. His message invited the audience to contemplate every form as the expression of an inner life.
The visit and the broadcast fall within a singular moment for the memory of Gaudí. The year 2026 marks the centenary of his death, which occurred in 1926, an anniversary that has rekindled international interest in his figure. To this is added that in 2025 the Church declared him Venerable, a decisive step on the path towards the beatification that Almuzara has been promoting for years. Both milestones explain why the architect's story today draws attention far beyond Catalonia.
